HOW IT ALL STARTED

Inigo began as an idea. Our first faculty advisor, Cheryl McPhilimy, sat down with Loyola’s School of Communication to discuss doing what no one in Chicago had done before: starting a completely student-run communications agency. A new elective course was set up, and Inigo Communications started to grow from an idea into a reality. Cheryl travelled across the country visiting other school’s agencies, taking the best elements from each one. When her first COMM370 class met in January 2017, she turned this inspiration over to a group of fifteen students, ranging from freshmen to graduating seniors, who took charge of creating our agency. The first leadership team was chosen, and the founders began the long and challenging process of creating the agency’s identity. They wanted to create a brand that would last for generations of future students. It took over seven weeks to decide on our name. Tag lines, logos, and brand identity statements were finessed with a fine-toothed comb. Finally, in May 2017, Inigo Communications was officially established.

The following semester, Fall 2017, brought our first three clients: Cubii, Rambler Sports Locker, and TechNexus. Client teams were formed and took part in helping our clients ignite conversations and spark results. We are now in our fourth semester working with clients and have also developed a relationship with an amazing team of mentors and advisors at Golin. As our staff and expertise continues to grow, we look forward to continuing our journey as the first and only student-run communications agency in Chicago.

Always eager for hands-on experience, we offer bold ideas, alternative perspectives, and new insights into the millennial generation.
